Colon Cancer Prevention

Helping prevent colon cancer is an important goal of physicians as it is one of the leading causes of death in the US. Colon cancer affects many people and in some extent it may be largely preventable. Of course prevention is a great goal, including age-appropriate preventative testing. that is suggested by the United States Preventative Task Force, USPSTF.

Another important advancement in recent years has been appreciation of and realizing how to protect the microbiome. The microbiome is the set of bacteria which lives in one's gastrointestinal system. These bacteria are important for many things. They are essential to the health and survival of the human. For one, the microbiome helps digest the food so that the person may uptake nutrients. It is said that the number of cells in the microbiome even outnumbers the human cells in the human body. Thus one can see how important the microbiome is to the person. Keepjng these gut bacteria happy is a useful goal. Feeding the microbiome a wide variety of plant based foods is an important goal that will help to keep the microbiome

functioning well.
